Welcome to the Department of Radiography at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. The department is located on the North Campus of the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) and is part of the Faculty of Health Sciences. This website will inform you about all the programmes offered within the Department.

WHAT DIAGNOSTIC RADIOGRAPHERS DO

  • Their main function is to take x-ray images (radiographs) of the body from which a medical doctor can make a diagnosis.
  • They often go to the operating theatre and wards to x-ray a patient.
  • They handle very advanced technological equipment.
  • They provide a 24 hour service to doctors and patients - this means working at night, weekends and public holidays.
  • They are professionals and play a pivotal role in the healthcare team.
